Frequently Asked Questions
Do you collect knives and return them?
Yes — we offer mobile collection and drop-off across Newcastle, Durham, Gateshead and Sunderland. A £40 minimum order applies to call-out appointments.
How much does knife sharpening cost?
Pricing starts at £5 for utility and paring knives, £10 for standard chef knives, and £15 for Japanese high-carbon and Damascus steel. Full tariffs are on our Chef Sharp page.
Can you sharpen Japanese and Damascus steel knives?
Yes. Japanese high-carbon and Damascus steel are sharpened on Japanese water stones only, preserving the original geometry and hamon line.
Do you sharpen barber and hairdressing scissors?
Yes. We sharpen bevel-edge, convex-edge Japanese shears, thinning and texturising shears, and traditional cut-throat razors. See our Barbers Art page for the full tariff.
How often should professional knives be sharpened?
High-use restaurant knives benefit from monthly sharpening; home cooks typically every 3–6 months. Our Edge Subscriptions put this on a regular rotation with collection included.
